“Circles, like the soul, are never-ending and turn round and round without a stop.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Since the beginning of a new year can feel like another go-round in a circle, it’s no wonder circles seem to be a theme in last month’s auctions. There were plenty of beautiful items which showcased not only beautiful round diamonds but circles in the design as well, many of which sold for sky-high prices at auction.
Circles can mean a lot in design, from totality and wholeness to timelessness and potential. This is one of the reasons it is featured in many types of jewelry, including rings, necklaces, and watches. The circle can also be quite elegant when it comes to design and we found the overlapping circle earrings to be rather swanky, especially with their round-cut diamond fringe.
Round-cut diamonds are the most popular cut but some designs use the circular shape as a basis for much wilder designs. The 1.52-carat round cut bridal set was particularly eye-catching, especially with the fan of baguette diamonds on the top. And we couldn’t leave out the hefty 3.72-carat round cut ring set in an eye-shaped setting pictured below.
With their perfect, aesthetically pleasing shape along with the fact that round-cut diamonds give the most amount of sparkle, circular jewels will always be around (no pun intended). If you have a circle of gems or any other shape that no longer match your style, consider selling smart with Worthy and getting something to go with your new groove.
