There are many ways to approach divorce. Today we are talking about a few simple but powerful exercises you can do to advance a swift settlement in your case. Our guest, Randi Karmel recommends her clients begin with crystal clarity. She has them write the following lists to get clear on what they want and where they do and don’t have flexibility.
We explore the client’s priority list – what is really important to them and the opposite, what is not that important at all. Randi also suggests a non-negotiable list to get clear on where there may be less flexibility in the negotiations and then highly recommends you list what is most important to your spouse. Knowing these gives both client and attorney clarity and highlights where there may be difficulties and what might go more smoothly.
The final list is of your fears – often your worst case scenario narrative. Understanding your fear helps your attorney educate you and support you in crafting a settlement of your desire.
Randi Karmel is a litigator that defies the negative stereotype of uncaring and out for themselves. Randi is a rock star for her clients.
