Fall is in full swing and so are our auctions! This month’s favorites include some autumn-hued beauties, lux watches, and a pair of leaf-inspired earrings we couldn’t get enough of. Let’s jump in.
There was a time in the not-so-distant past when a gold engagement ring was a sign you were out of date and your ring would have been labeled “retro”. But yellow gold, which went out of fashion in the 90s in favor of white metals, is back in style. We saw a number of yellow-gold engagement rings and bridal sets in October that ran the gamut from simple and stunning (#3) to busy and over the top (#7).
We also saw a more timeless yellow-gold piece: the diamond and sapphire baguette bangle pictured below (#10).
Sometimes there is a piece that perfectly captures the season and in October it was the pair of leaf-inspired diamond and yellow gold earrings pictured below (#4). These earrings feature a mix of pear and marquise cut diamonds to fill the leaves and are nothing short of show-stoppers.
However, whether it’s because of the post-pandemic social shift or the memories behind the piece, more and more jewelry owners are choosing to sell their items and reap the cash benefits rather than have unworn pieces sit in their homes. And spectacular diamond earrings such as these might just fall into that “all dressed up and nowhere to go” category.
