We are very excited to announce the winners of our Worthy Women’s Scholarship – Alyssa Fiume, Sarah Leong-Fern, and Angela White.
This year, we received hundreds of submissions from women across the country, representing a diverse range of ages and career paths, experiences and stories.
We are incredibly moved by all of our applicants – remarkable women balancing everyday life while pursuing their education. Today, we are proud to champion three exceptional individuals on their journey to making their dreams a reality.
We also extend a huge thank you to our dedicated panelists: Mandy Walker, divorce mediator and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, and Michelle Dempsey-Multack, Founder of Moms Moving On and The Moving On Method®, and Certified Divorce Specialist.
1st Place Winner of $2,500

Alyssa is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Psychology, building upon a foundation
rooted in service and compassion. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Human
Services and Disabilities Studies from the University of Delaware, where she discovered
a passion for special education and a commitment to serving others.
In 2015, after losing her father to mental health struggles and suicide, her path and
purpose was altered. In her father’s memory, she co-founded the Alfred M. Fiume
Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing mental wellness and
reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. Through their Therapeutic Assistance
Program, the foundation works to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent
individuals from accessing the therapy they need. She also facilitates a support group
for those who have lost loved ones to suicide, offering community, understanding, and
healing to others navigating similar grief.
The pursuit of a graduate degree in Psychology is both a personal and professional
calling. Understanding behavior and feelings provides greater clarity and a framework
for working with others in the many ways she does. Alyssa intends to apply her studies
— particularly in Industrial-Organizational Psychology — to foster collaboration,
structure, and support across the organizations and communities she serves. Most
importantly, she hopes to become an even more effective advocate through her
foundation and volunteer work
Alyssa credits her parents and family with instilling in her a lifelong passion for service,
like her father, and for guiding her toward a strength she didn’t know she had.
2nd Place Winner of $1,500

Sara is earning her J.D. at the University of Toledo College of Law and plan to practice as a lawyer
once she graduates.
She has been always been drawn to public interest law, and she has done her best to explore the
myriad opportunities to help others as a lawyer. Right now, she is absolutely loving every second
of her time as a summer clerk at the Federal Trade Commission. Every time she wins a case, she
prevents more American consumers from being defrauded or deceived. Fraudsters and deceptive
advertisers target the most vulnerable among us. Protecting them is extremely rewarding work,
so she hopes to work in consumer protection after she graduates. Regardless of where she ends up, she will strive to live her values, and she deeply appreciate all the support she has received along the way!
3rd Place Winner of $1,000

My name is Angela White, and I am originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland. I am
currently a first-year law student at Southern University Law Center and a first-generation
college graduate. My journey to law school has been shaped by resilience, faith, and a strong
desire to advocate for others.
My personal experiences with adversity and instability have inspired my passion for family law,
juvenile justice, and child welfare. In the future, I hope to use my legal education to support
children and families facing abuse, neglect, instability, and other systemic barriers. My goal is to
become an attorney who not only understands the law but also uses it to protect vulnerable
communities and create meaningful change.
